In September 2009 at the Surf Life Saving New Zealand AGM the membership endorsed a new constitution for the organisation. This means significant structural change for Surf Life Saving. Below is a simple diagram explaning the new structure:
Support for the clubs in this area (Waitara, Fitzroy, East End, New Plymouth Old Boys, Opunake and Wanganui) is now provided by staff employed by Surf Life Saving, but based locally.
The Club Development Officer for the Greater Taranaki area is Andrew Cronin. Andrew is a member of the East End Club and well known throughout the Taranaki District. More recently Andrew has been working for SLST on a short term contract delivering a lifeguard development programme. His contribution to SLS was recognised in September when he was awarded a SLSNZ Service Award. Andrew will be based in New Plymouth, servicing Taranaki and Wanganui. Andrew can be reached on 027 557 1008 or andrew.cronin@surflifesaving.org.nz.
